Well, I made the root beer cupcakes last night & took them into work. I need to back up a little bit tho. Cupcakes came out perfectly ッ. This was only the 2nd time I've made buttercream frosting. The 1st time it came out perfectly.... Last night, not so much. It broke. It looked like weird butter. It was a warmer day & I think the butter got too soft. I ended up cheating. I used store bought vanilla frosting & added root beer concentrate. Wasn't too bad, but not as good as home-made. They disappeared very quickly at the office today. Success!!! I'm already contemplating what my next experiment will be.
10 minutes later - I looked thru all of my cupcake recipes and I don't have all the ingredients for any of them. :( . It's getting late & I don't want to think anymore, so...I will figure it out tomorrow.
Happy Valentine's! I hope y'all have a great evening.

Yummyness!
Gotta love Sprout's. Organic Blueberries and Blackberries were cheaper than regular! It doesn't matter to me if they are organic - just don't see the prices that way anywhere else. I was impressed w/ hubby and I. We bought all fresh fruits and veggies except for some banana chips. Nothing else. But, of course now I'm going to go make root beer float cupcakes - zero fruit involved there!

New & Improved
I've been away for a very long time, but I'm going to use this for everything. I plan to put life stories, recipes, travel info, restarants, crafts, etc.
I have become obsessed with cupcakes lately. The 1st one I made was Rootbeer Float cupcakes - Yum! So, I would like to share with you.

and so it continues...
I started chemo again. This time an oral one instead of the IV type I'd had last summer (they'd installed a port up near my collarbone where everything was pumped in). The 1 oral one had horrible side effects. I got sores in my mouth and throat to the point that I couldn't eat or take any of my meds. Chunks of skin started coming off my feet and parts of my hands. That's when they said "Gee, maybe we should try something different". The one I'm on now just makes me exhausted all the time. That may sound pretty bad, but compared to last summer and the 1st one this summer - I'll take it w/out bitching too much. Originally (this time around) they said I should be done w/ chemo by this fall...well, it's the end of September and now they are saying it will be - at the earliest - the end of the year. Woo Hoo :{
On the bright side tho... My absolutely hilarious grandson is 3 1/2 and is tons of fun to play with & I now have a grand-daughter. We gave her a teeny tiny baseball glove because I refuse to have any sissy girls in my house!
I'm getting ready to start making Christmas cookies (I make approx. 1,000 each year). Here is a recipe of something new I'm going to try this year:

It looks easy and sounds yummy. Any other suggestions for good & easy, but different Christmas cookies?
I need to go work on my checkbook - yuck - so, I'll be back again soon....

Been away for awhile
I haven't been here for a long time. I looked back at the last post and was hoping that if someone happened to have found this while browsing they would have let me know how they feel. But, that's ok. I'm going to keep going with my venting, happy stuff, etc.! I have been 'advised' to keep a journal of sorts - to write down my thoughts and feelings so that they are just bumping around in my brain making me crazier.
Since the last time I wrote (Oct of 2013) I have found out that I have breast cancer not just once, but twice. Spring of 14 I was told I had it. It was a horrible summer of chemo & then dbl mastectomy that fall. They said things were fine after that. I had one of my normal 'check ups' the next spring. When the Dr. sat down she said "the blood tests look great - looks like everything is gone". After that she did a visual - in 30 seconds my life turned upside down again. Her next comment was "well, I'm pretty sure it's back again".
I will be back later...TV guy is on his way over....

Do they ever go away?
Growing up Catholic definitely made a difference in my life - and for the most part it wasn't good things.
The Catholic church makes it seem like sex is a bad thing. For the strictest believers they think that sex is Only for procreating. I had a friend who's hubby's dad believed this. The family had several children and when the mom had to have a hysterectomy he wouldn't ever touch her again - simply because she couldn't get pregnant. In my opinion - when I can pull my damaged mind away from what was pounded into me - I believe that God wouldn't have made it so enjoyable if it was only for 1 thing. I believe that it is a way to be close to the person that you love.
I also grew up believing that God punished you for doing bad things. What the hell! Look around the world. There are millions of people suffering. Most of them haven't done anything so horrible that they deserved to starve or watch their children die.
I was taught that if you weren't baptized you would go to hell. Does that mean that all those 3rd world people are going to hell? Or the millions who aren't catholic are going to hell? Or a newborn baby that dies soon after birth is going to hell?
Do these crazy teachings and feelings Ever get out of your head completely if you grew up Catholic?!
